“Rogue One” will capture your heart!

As someone who’s never watched a single Star Wars film before…. I enjoyed Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. I’ve never been one to understand the hype over Star Wars, but I understood the passion fans have for films as a film lover myself. So when the hype around Rogue One was contagious enough, I caved and watched it a few days after it’s release in a packed theater. To my knowledge, all I knew was Luke Skywalker, BB-8, Princess Leia and Darth Vader.

Thus, when the film began, I was extremely confused for the first half with what was going on. I had no idea who the characters were, what was happening or anything else besides the fact K-2SO was adorable and hilarious. From the title itself, Rogue One indicated it was going to be a ‘rogue’ suicidal mission so that wasn’t going to be a happy ending. My thoughts were confirmed near the end of the film when K-2SO was taken down (cries!) and shortly after, the rest of the cast.

The graphics were visually nice, better than I had expected and I didn’t see any major flaws that irked me like Fantastic Beasts. The storyline felt a tad longer than I would have liked, but nothing major as well. It contained tons of action and comedic moments to which I felt was a nice balance. I loved the characters presented in the film, especially K-2SO and also Chirrut and his buddy.

Overall, I enjoyed the film for what it was. I wasn’t too picky as I didn’t know what to expect as it was my first Star Wars film. I’ll possibly watch the others later on when I have some free time. I particularly loved the ending scene when Darth Vader boards the rebel ship and tries to retrieve the stolen Death Star data, that was epic. I look forward to the next film!
