The Weeknd’s “Starboy” Pop-Up Shop in Toronto!

It’s been a busy weekend in Toronto with Black Friday shopping, but also the launch of The Weeknd’s fourth full length album – STARBOY. Not only was the album released at midnight on Friday, but Toronto fans also had an opportunity to meet The Weeknd himself at the Toronto pop-up shop on Thursday, November 24th. The Starboy pop-up shop was powered by Shopify, and will be open to the public from Friday November 25tht to Sunday November 27th at The Rally (12 Ossington Avenue).

The pop-up shop carries limited edition Starboy merchandise including t-shirts, long-sleeve shirts, hoodies, bomber jackets, denim jackets, and more.

As mentioned, there was a fan appreciation event to meet The Weeknd on Thursday at the pop-up shop at 5 p.m. To be eligible to meet The Weeknd and partake in his autograph signing session and receiving free swag from his Starboy merchandise collection, you had to line up to become one of the first Two hundred and fifty (250) people in line to earn an event wristband. As expected, they were distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning at 9 a.m. on November 24 at 12 Ossington Avenue. If you weren’t one of the first 250, but was still in the line to be one of the first 400 fans, you’d receive an exclusive front of the line access wristband to attend the official opening of the Starboy Toronto pop-up shop on Friday, November 25.

There was no media call or photo/video opportunities inside the pop up shop for the Toronto Fan Appreciation event.

Lastly, in celebration of the release of Starboy, The Weeknd hosted an album release party on Thursday, November 24 at Pinewood Toronto Studios at 9pm. Fans that were able to act quickly enough were able to grab FREE tickets to the special event via Ticketmaster. Tickets were gone immediately, and instantly resold from the fans for $80-$100 each.

Did you have a chance to visit the pop-up store this weekend? I certainly did, after a few hours in the cold on Friday afternoon! The line up didn’t look too long when I joined around 2:45pm, but it didn’t move quick thus it ended up taking 2 hours before I was inside the store. My phone had been dying quite fast while waiting in line and even shut down on me a few times due to the cold. When I was inside the store lining up to enter the merchandise area, we were given a card with the available items for sale. Unforutnately some of the items were sold out in small and medium, and that so happened to be the long sleeve shirt I actually wanted. It was $55 with the cross and lightning bolt symbols on the front. With that, I was stuck pondering what I should do since I lined up for so long, and really wanted to buy something…. but the one I truly wanted was gone already. It was between a LARGE long sleeve for the symbol design I wanted or a SMALL False alarm long sleeve tee. In the end, I finally decided to play it safe and go with the white False Alarm long sleeve. The large size was way too big, and I wasn’t sure how much it could shrink even if I washed and dried it a few times. I rather not take that risk.

Inside the pop up store, there was a cross symbol, The Weeknd symbol, and a Starboy symbol hung on the wall. There was a few racks displaying the sizes small – xlarge for the merchandise available. You were to look at the items and decide which one you wanted on your paper card before ordering. There wasn’t a line to purchase the item, so you could take as long as you like to look around and decide. The whole experience probably took 15 minutes, since I had to warm myself up, take a few photos and also ultimately decide what to buy!
